Edouard de Ganay, the owner and the sound engineer of the recording studio “Le magicien du son” is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in “Contemporary Writing and Production”. He also completed his apprenticeship in the famous Brussels famous studio, “Synsounds II”
Since its inception in 2008, he got the opportunity to work with so many talented artists from various musical backgrounds (World music, Rock, Classical, Jazz, Reggae, French songs, Blues, Meditation…) and famous belgian jazz cats such as Manuel Hermia (sax & flute), Patinho Calvin Moneze (bass), Stephan Poujin (drums),Toine Thys (sax) and Nicolas Hauzeur (violin) and the world famous violonist Roby Lakatos.
He was in charge of the sound recording and mixing from the Cameroun TV Broadcast “Africa Star Show” where renowned African musicians performed (Lukua Kanza, Meiway and Henri Dikongué). He also managed the sound in numerous indoor venues in Belgium (Bozar, European Commission, European parliament, musée des Beaux arts, KVS box, Théatre Molière, Théatre le fou rire, Le bouche à Oreille, Kunst Centrum Ten Weyngaert , Odisee Brussels Campus, Centre Culturel d'Uccle, Karreveld castel in Brussels, CINEX in Namur,VUB…) as well as outdoor events (Selafet for Globe Aroma VZW, the Brussels Climate March, Urban life festival) with artists such as N’Faly Kouyate (recipient of a Grammy Award in 2002), Alif Naaba…
Some of his own studio recordings were broadcast on the Belgian radio network RTBF (the music Gypsy project “Brussels underground”) and on several African national radio network from Guinea, Senegal and Togo, on several local Brussels radio (Campus, Panik, Arabel...) as well as the French national radio network Fun Radio.
He also takes care of technical and artistic accompaniment for emerging artists in order to produce and arrange their recordings. Some of these artists got through selections in contests in Belgium (Biennale de la chanson française, Mars en chanson) and in France (prix Daniel Balavoine).
He’s also an active guitar player who performs regularly in the Brussels scene in small festivals (Jazz Marathon, festival Europe Matongué…) as well as in city art centers (Espace Toots, de Kriekelaar, Piano Fabriek…)
Along with his musical activities, he has also recorded the voice-over for the DVD “L’alimentation vive” from the organic cook chef Pol Gregoire (which was reviewed in several Belgian newspapers such as “le vif”) and for RTBF broadcast “A quoi çà sert”
He also installed and managed the sound system for the conference Rebranding Africa (2014 and 2015 editions) in the Brussels Sheraton Hotel with prestigious contributors such as the vice prime minister of Belgium Alexandre de Croo, the prime minister of Senegal Mahammed Boun Abdallah Dionne and the world renowned artist Manu Dibango.
He also did sound installation studies for venues in Paris ( Théatre la Boussole) and in Brussels (Globa Aroma VZW)
